Cliffside Promenade
A public bluff-top path tracing the coastline with interpretive markers and uninterrupted eastern horizons.
The Cliffside Promenade follows the very edge of the bluffs, offering an unbroken view eastward across the water and daily spectacle of sunrise breaking over the horizon. The path is wide enough for two-way foot traffic, with benches placed at intervals—some shaped like driftwood, others carved with maritime motifs— inviting quiet pauses for reflection or photography. Signage embedded in granite plaques shares stories of shipwrecks, smuggler lore, and early settlers who first charted these waters.
While the promenade is publicly maintained, private oceanfront properties line either side, and access points are clearly marked. Many residents incorporate the path into their daily routine—whether walking dogs, jogging at dawn, or simply enjoying the view from a favorite bench. The bluff top is stable here, with railings and gentle slopes ensuring accessibility across most segments. Storms occasionally cause temporary closures, but repairs are prioritized quickly due to the path’s role as both recreation corridor and evacuation route.
Seasonal changes are striking along this stretch: wildflowers bloom in spring along the backside grasses, summer brings nesting gulls offshore, and autumn skies deepen into clear, crisp mornings perfect for long walks. The promenade connects several small coves and viewpoints, each with its own microclimate and visual drama—never crowded, even in summer, thanks to its length and the natural distribution of visitors and locals alike.
