Fixture Care
Specialized hand-finishing and recalibration for high-end brass and historic faucets, ensuring performance and finish longevity.
Fixture Care focuses on brass, solid copper, and reproduction fixtures common in Boston’s late-19th- and early-20th-century homes. Our technicians use non-abrasive polishes, microfiber protocols, and calibrated torque tools to preserve patina while restoring function. This includes tightening without galling threads, reseating brass seats, and verifying smooth operation across hot/cold mixing valves—ensuring no wear is introduced during routine service.
We also recalibrate historic drain assemblies—like brass toe-kick or overflow mechanisms—using period-appropriate packing materials and alignment gauges. This prevents the over-tightening that cracks vintage bodies, or the under-tightening that invites drips. Every adjustment is logged, including which sealing compound was used and how flow was tested, so future caretakers inherit context and continuity.
