Insurance Validation

We validate insurance policies each year and require proof of both general liability and workers’ compensation.

Uninsured or underinsured plumbers pose serious financial risk to property owners in Massachusetts. We require copies of current insurance certificates showing general liability coverage with minimum limits appropriate for the scope of work, plus workers’ compensation if they have employees. We contact carriers directly to confirm policy validity, not just accept uploaded forms. This protects homeowners from liability if an injury occurs on-site.

Workers’ compensation is mandatory for employers in MA, but many small firms misrepresent staffing status. We ask for employee rosters and verify coverage per individual. If a sole proprietor claims no employees, we request a waiver acknowledgment signed by the licensee. We exclude any provider lacking either policy or with insufficient coverage for high-risk tasks like trenching or pipe replacement in older structures.

When dispatching an emergency, our platform flags whether a plumber is fully insured before showing their profile. You’ll see coverage type and expiry date in your vetting summary. This reduces surprises at job’s end and ensures accountability. We also maintain a rolling audit to catch lapses between annual renewals—especially before winter, when emergency calls surge and risk exposure increases.
