Nearby-Badge

Users with the nearby-badge have neighbours vouching for them—making local secondhand sellers feel familiar, not foreign.

When a seller includes the nearby-badge, it means one or more verified local residents have confirmed they know them in person—like a chawl neighbour, building supervisor, or market seller. This adds a layer of human verification without requiring official documents or invasive checks. It helps you distinguish between someone who’s part of your everyday landscape and a temporary visitor or out-of-area seller.

Look for nearby-badge holders who list near where you already spend time—your housing society perimeter, a familiar market lane, or a common bus stop. Their listing may reference shared spaces like your local temple, school gate, or bus depot entrance. This geographic and social overlap makes cross-checking easier, and gives you a sense of whether you might already have mutual, unseen connections.

If a nearby-badge user mentions their workplace or school by generic landmarks—such as 'works at the bakery opposite a prominent church', or 'my kid goes to a well-known school in Dadar West'—that’s a sign of legitimacy, as long as it’s vague enough to protect privacy. Avoid sellers who claim nearby-badge status but can’t reference even generic local references, or whose listing location jumps between distant zones with no logical link.
