Wait Times

New-patient scheduling typically ranges 2–3 weeks, with urgent cases accommodated when clinical need and capacity align.

Wait times reflect the practice’s commitment to thorough, unhurried appointments—typically 60 to 90 minutes for initial assessments. This allows clinicians to conduct comprehensive case histories, mental status examinations, and, when indicated, reviews of prior records or collateral information. The scheduling process includes a brief clinical screening to determine urgency and match patients with the most appropriate provider. Acute risk or severe functional impairment may qualify for expedited assessment, though this is evaluated individually based on clinical criteria rather than administrative thresholds.

Urgent evaluations follow a defined triage protocol aligned with standards of psychiatric care, emphasizing risk assessment, safety planning, and immediate stabilization. Providers reserve capacity specifically for urgent cases, and intake coordinators can help prioritize referrals when timing is clinically consequential. If urgent needs exceed immediate capacity, patients receive interim guidance—including evidence-based self-management strategies and resource referrals—while awaiting appointment. The goal is to reduce distress without compromising safety or diagnostic rigor.

Waiting periods also serve as an informal trial of treatment readiness. Patients use this interval to reflect on symptoms, gather prior records, and prepare questions. Providers often share brief, pre-visit resources to help orient patients to what to expect—supporting informed consent and reducing pre-appointment anxiety. This structured approach helps avoid the fragmentation and rushed diagnostics common in high-throughput settings, where delays often lead to worse outcomes due to delayed intervention.
