Lower School (K–5)

Foundational literacy and numeracy through story, play, and rhythm where curiosity is protected and wonder is honored.

In Lower School, students engage with core academic skills using approaches grounded in early childhood development and faith integration. Lessons often begin with a shared story that opens pathways to discussion, creativity, and reflection. Teachers use rhythmic routines—such as morning circles, call-and-response chants, and seasonal transitions—to help children feel safe and build predictability, which supports cognitive growth and emotional regulation.

Academic instruction blends structured practice with hands-on exploration. Students develop phonemic awareness and early reading fluency using evidence-based literacy frameworks that emphasize decoding, comprehension, and vocabulary through daily read-alouds and guided reading groups. Math learning is made concrete with manipulatives and real-life contexts—like measuring garden beds or dividing snack portions—to reveal patterns and relationships in the world God made.

Spiritual formation in these years is relational and experiential, woven into daily rhythms. Students participate in age-appropriate prayer, sing scripture-based songs, and explore Bible stories through drama, art, and nature walks. Teachers model kindness and respect, helping children learn to name emotions, resolve simple conflicts, and care for others in tangible ways— laying a foundation for lifelong moral character.
