Rigorous Assessment

Initial evaluations cover medical, psychiatric, and functional history to inform accurate diagnosis and care planning.

Initial psychiatric evaluation follows established clinical protocols: detailed personal and family history, prior treatments and responses, substance use, and psychosocial context. Clinicians use structured interviews and clinical judgment to distinguish overlapping conditions and rule out medical mimics. This depth is essential because mental health diagnoses often lack definitive biomarkers and rely on careful symptom mapping against diagnostic manuals like the DSM-5.

Beyond symptom checklists, we assess functional impact across work, relationships, and self-care. Physical examination findings, lab results, and past imaging or tests are reviewed when relevant. The goal is not just to name a condition but to understand how it operates in the individual’s life—why it emerged, what maintains it, and where opportunities for intervention lie.

The evaluation ends with a synthesis: a diagnostic formulation, initial treatment options, and a shared understanding of next steps. Patients leave with clarity about their presentation and how treatment will proceed. This process is intentional and slow—no rushed triage—because accurate assessment is the foundation of effective, safe care.
