Diagnose
We gather live sensor data, freeze-frame codes, and oscilloscope traces before forming a hypothesis.
Before any repair begins, we connect the vehicle to our diagnostic suite and capture hundreds of live parameters—coolant temperature, fuel trim, knock sensor response, and more—over a sustained drive cycle. This helps us distinguish between symptoms and root causes. For instance, a Check Engine light might indicate a failing oxygen sensor, but the underlying issue could be a lean mixture due to a vacuum leak or weak fuel pump. We rarely rely on a single scan tool reading.
Freeze-frame data, captured at the exact moment a fault occurred, is paired with oscilloscope traces of ignition, fuel, and sensor signals to visualize timing and voltage behavior under load. A misfire code might correlate with high resistance in a spark plug wire or incorrect cam timing, visible only through waveform analysis. These tools let us confirm whether components are behaving within spec—or drifting toward failure—even when the vehicle runs fine on the surface.
The goal is to form a hypothesis grounded in evidence, not assumption. We document the full data set, highlight anomalies, and cross-reference with service bulletins and known failure patterns for that make and model. This prevents misdiagnosis that could lead to unnecessary repairs or recurring issues. When we present our findings, you’ll see exactly what led us to recommend a specific course of action.
